MOOng Dal Sookhi Sabzi – Split Green Gram Lentil Stir Fry

  
Moong Dal Sookhi Sabzi is perfect for a week night dinner. Simple, quick recipe that is light on your tummy. Moong dal sookhi sabzi, is dry and hence goes well with roti and boondi raita and some fresh salad.

Moong Dal or Split green gram lentil is believed to be very healthy. It is believed to having cooling effect. So it is used more during summers. Pāyasa, Tovve, Pongal, Khichdi, Kadubu(Dal Dhokli) are few other dishes that are made of Moong Dal.

  

Ingredients 

1 cup – Moong dal

1 tbsp – Red chilly powder

1/2 tsp – Turmeric

1 tsp – Garam Masala Powder

Salt to taste

2 tbsp – Oil

1 no – Green chilly

1/2 – Lemon

Coriander to garnish

  
Method

To make Moong dal Sookhi Sabzi, 

.Wash the Moong dal and set it aside.

. In a deep pan, heat the oil. Add red chilly powder, turmeric and salt to the oil.

. Stir it for two seconds.

. Add the washed lentil to this and give it a good stir.

. Add enough water to cover the dal.

. Reduce the flame and cover the pan with a lid.

  
. Cook till the water is evaporated.

.Check if the dal is cooked, if not add little more water and cook till the dal is cooked.

. Do not over cook the dal.

. Open the lid, turn the flame high, add garam masala powder and give it a good stir.

. Toss it till the dal Is dry.

. Transfer it to the serving bowl, add chopped green chillies, coriander leaves and squeeze lemon juice over it generously.

.Serve it hot.
