Strawberries are in season and in abundance. Nature gives us it’s creatuions one after the other. So we should enjoy every one of it’s creations to the limit. I enjoy seasonal fruits to the limit. Every season gets with it some gorgeous fruits.
Strawberry is not local to where i stay. It is supplied from Mahabaleswar. It’s only very recently that it has started being available in the markets in our city.
As a kid, I remember watching a fairy tale on the television. ‘A witch grows some juicy fruits and vegetables in her garden and the villagers are always wanting to taste but are scared to go near her garden. And that’s when the hero goes into her garden and kills her and gets those juicy strawberries and dips it in chocolate ganache and serves it to his pregnant wife…’ From then i had always been wanting to eat strawberries, and all that I could get was Kissan Strawberry Jam 😂. Many years from then, I finally had them and loved it. It was worth the wait. But now luckily we get it at every fruit shop.
So back to the dish… It was valentines day, we didn’t have any plans for the afternoon. Maybe we have grown old 😁 . So what better than a nice strawberry salad, served outdoor, enjoying the winter sun….
